Trackside IR is a great license for those who want to travel safely over longer distances, without being totally dependent on the weather, yet do not want to take full IR training.

Implementation of trackside IFR and instrument flight (IMC) according to meteorological conditions. The Track Instrumentation (EIR) holder has the right to conduct daytime IFR flights in the track phase of the flight with an airplane for which he holds a class or type rating. This right may be extended to carry out night flights under IFR in the track phase of the flight if the pilot holds a night rating.

Requirements for the student

  • The student must hold at least a valid class II medical certificate extended by an EU 2019/27 Part-MED examination.
