Instrument rating is required for instrument flying.

IR instrument rating entitles the pilot to instrument flight. The great advantage of our school is that the prescribed part of the training takes place on our own, fully mobile FNTP II simulator. The mobile simulator offers a more realistic environment for training.

Requirements for the student

  • An applicant for an IR must hold a valid PPL, including night or CPL ratings, and must have flown at least 50 hours of navigation time as a pilot-in-command on airplanes or helicopters of which at least 10 hours must be on airplanes.
  • The student must hold at least a valid class II medical certificate extended by an EU 2019/27 Part-MED examination.
  • Certificate of completion of the theoretical course IR / ATPL.
  • The applicant must have passed or pass an IR exam in English.
  • Minimum age of 18
  • A valid radiotelephone license.

Crediting previous experience

CPL (A) holder or a module - Instrument Flight Base graduate may reduce the total volume of training by 10 hours.

Course of the training

The training takes place on a fully mobile FNTP II flight simulator and a Cessna 172RG, Diamond DA40 or Tecnam P2006T aircraft. Our simulator is fully mobile and certified for instrument training and MCC (Multi crew cooperation).

Flight time training to qualify for SEP/IR (A)

  • Ground preparation hours: 2h
  • Flight hours on FNTP II simulator: 30h
  • Flight hours - airplane: 20h

Flight time for reduced MEP / IR (A) training for IR (A) holders at SEP

  • Ground preparation hours: 2h
  • Flight hours on FNTP II simulator: 3h
  • Flight hours - airplane: 2h

The course can also be completed on the Tecnam P2006T multi-engine aircraft.

You can find the course price according to your current qualification in our price list.

The syllabus shown here is set to meet the minimum flight instruction hours permitted by the regulations. In case of interest it is possible to increase the number of hours in the aircraft at the expense of the simulator hours. Discuss the need for your lessons with the instructor!
